ISSUE #9
Hey everybody, my name is Fanaye and Im originally born and raised in Oakland, CA (aka Yay Area) but i currently reside in Los Angeles where I work behind the scenes in television. If you caught the last issue I was in, some of you already know that both my parents are Ethiopian. I left a few things out the last time that I feel is very important to mention about my culture.
Ethiopians never turn away people from their homes. Theyre very hospitable people. Always offering whatever they have to make that guest, even a complete stranger, and a welcomed guest. Between my brother and I, we always had the house full of our friends. It was basically the hangout spot cause my mom will always cook and friends were always welcomed to stay the night. Another cool thing to mention is that we eat the traditional food with our hands. And often with love ones we feed each other. The moral behind that is, you can never have "beef" with a person that feeds you or puts food in your mouth (literally).
