My name is Kathy Lantigua. I was born and raised in Washington Heights...also known as uptown in the city that never sleeps New York. My parents migrated from the Dominican Republic in the 1970s and raised four children (including me). Im a proud Dominican-American, who graduated from Lehman College with a Bachelors Degree in Health Service Administration.As a librarian during the day and a model at night and on the weekends, I am able to say I am beautiful, independent, and have the right mind to achieve all I can. Leo is my sign,which adds meaning to being center of attention. Outgoing is my middle name; spontaneous is my life style and always up for a challenge. Living life as a young Latina, I believe we have one life to live. We should not regret what we do but say "I have done everything that I wanted, and I have accomplished what others said I couldnt do. Look who I am now”.

God has been a great guide in my life and I find myself blessed that I am dont embody the stereotypes that haunt minorities. The way I handle my life is making things happen for myself and not waiting for things to be given to me. I work for what I want. As a young girl, I always wanted to be a model. Agents approached me, but I never pursued it because of my insecurities. Society has created a perfect image of the ideal woman, which is super skinny. My curves add my special touch on what I feel is beautiful.

Beauty can come in all shapes and sizes, and being curvy can be beautiful! MySpace and Twitter have helped jumpstart my modeling career. Self confidence and initiative gave me the stamina that I needed to launch myself. I have appeared in King Magazine and in music videos such as Julez Santana/Chris Browns “Back to the Crib” and The Dream/Ludacris “Love King” [Remix].

Los Angeles was a great experience. Being part of such a great magazine, where I am able to represent a true Latina was something to be proud of. From the makeup artist to the hair stylist and photographer, everyone was treated with respect and care and its an experience I will always remember.Thank you Sean, for choosing me to be a part of your magazine!
